Actiunea filmului, care este inspirat de un caz real, se petrece în anul 1992, în Câmpulung Muscel, la fabrica de masini ARO. Directorul, un oportunist veros, interpretat de Dorel Visan, vrea sa vânda fabrica pe nimic si sa lase pe drumuri 3.000 de oameni.



Un sindicalist descurcaret si cam afemeiat, jucat de Andi Vasluianu, gaseste o cale prin care poate salva uzina. A vazut la televizor ca americanii cumpara sperma de la barbatii români si îi convinge pe muncitori sa ia cu asalt Bucurestiul, pentru a face rost de bani.

Synopsis (EN):

1992, Michael Jackson's Dangerous tour comes to Bucharest but in the small city of Muscel, Romania one of the most important factories is being closed, leaving 1000 people out of work. The ARO factory owned by the state will be sold in a week. The CEO played by Dorel Visan, made a deal with a french buyer, a company that produces cans of snails. They want to turn the factory into a ... snail loft, only keeping 300 employees. The main character is George (Andi Vasluianu) the union leader. The film follows his character very closely as he struggles to keep his job and family. The opening scene shows him and his mistress, Manuela (Monica Birladeanu) on the roof of the factory having an intimate moment. Manuela is the CEO's secretary and her dream is to immigrate abroad, as she falls in love with one of the french investors (Robinson Stévenin). Between the problems with his wife (Andreea Bibiri) and his mistress, George comes up with many crazy ideas in order to try to save the struggling company. (cf Anca Haiduc on IMDB)

Lansat in septembrie 2012, filmul a ajuns in box-office-ul din Romania pe 2 in topul lunar, dupa Resident Evil 4:

In topul all time al filmelor romanesti in salile de cinema, "Despre oameni si soareci" a urcat pe locul 1, cu 16.000 e bilete vandute in cinematorgrafe in primele doua weekenduri si alte 5.000 de vizionari la TIFF. Pe doi in acelasi top se afla "4,3,2"-ul lui Mungiu, cu putin peste 10.000 de spectatori in cinematografe, si "Eu cand vreau sa fluier, fluier" cu 7.000 de spectatori.
